This International Women’s Day we are pledging to #PressforProgress by recommitting to harnessing the dynamism of business to empower women. In recent years, as well as ensuring gender mainstreaming in project designs, numerous of our projects have been specifically aimed at women entrepreneurs.  For example, we have a close relationship with the Papua New Guinea Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with whom we have run month-long small business programs for women in Port Moresby and Bougainville. We have also recently partnered with the Australian Pacific Technical College delivering an eight month business training and mentoring program for Fijian business women. In addition, since relaunching our YES small business training and mentoring program just over three years ago 58% of participants have been women.

While we know that gender parity won’t happen overnight, the good news is that across the world women are making positive gains day by day, with a strong and growing global movement of advocacy, activism and support.

ABV is proud to be part of this movement and doing our bit to support it.
