Timor Leste (formerly East Timor) is one of the poorest countries in the Asia-Pacific region. It was ranked 158 out of 179 countries in the 2008 UN Human Development Indicies, and fares poorly on key indicators such as life expectancy, literacy and GDP per capita.
Our current objectives for work in the Timor Leste include:
- Contribute to the development of human resources especially in vocational skills.
- Strengthen public sector management and local NGO project management capacity.
- Contribute to expanding agricultural productivity in the districts of Dili, Baucau and Manatuto.
- Promote the growth and development of selected local small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
