In November 2003 the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand publicly expressed its desire to move away from being an aid recipient. Australia’s current assistance is primarily focused on building Thailand’s capacity to address economic and public sector governance issues and working on regional initiatives.

Each assignment delivered in Thailand addresses one or more of the following objectives:

1. Support organisations assisting displaced people and marginalised communities.

2. Improve the effectiveness of regional HIV and AIDS education and harm reduction initiatives.

3. Assist initiatives aimed at expanding

4. Assist regional capacity-building initiatives.
