While the Solomon Islands is resource rich, it is one of the poorest Pacific nations and lacks management skills or the institutional capacity to best utilise these natural resources. Further constraints on development have been corruption, a lack of law and order, and a lack of basic service delivery such as health and education. Coupled with this is an exploding population, high rates of illiteracy and a largely rural population that depends on subsistence agriculture.
Each assignment delivered in Solomon Islands addresses one or more of the following objectives:
1. Improve the business, technical skills and financial management capabilities of organisations involved in rural development, vocational education and income generation.
2. Strengthen governance capabilities of organisations through the delivery of targeted training programs.
