Australia has a humanitarian as well as a practical interest in seeing Cambodia grow as a stable and prosperous nation, able to contribute to regional economic growth and assist in combating the major concerns of international crime. Despite many improvements since the restoration of peace, Cambodia is a country that continues to work towards justice and stability in a post–conflict context.

The Royal Cambodian Government’s priorities are to reduce rural poverty through development of the agriculture sector, improve rural infrastructure and natural resource management, improve health services and improve governance, including anti-corruption, legal and judicial reform and public administration reform.

Each assignment delivered in Cambodia addresses one or more of the following objectives:

1. Strengthen the capacity of organisations that work directly in administrative and financial reform and governance.

2. Promote the growth and development of small and medium enterprises.

3. Support the growth of the tourism and hospitality industry.
