Undertaking a volunteer assignment with ABV is a two stage process.
Stage 1: Is to apply to Register as an ABV volunteer
Stage 2: Is to apply for a specific ABV assignment
Stage 1: Volunteer Registration
Registration is a once-off process which must be completed before being selected for an ABV assignment. Registration is often undertaken in conjunction with an application for your first ABV assignment.
Once completed, registered volunteers are able to be considered for ABV assignments, and will be invited to apply for assignments that match your skills and experience.
To commence registration click to complete the Volunteer Registration form (opens in a new window).
Following this, an ABV staff member will be in contact with you to organise the following:
- An interview with a returned volunteer
- Reference checks
- Completion of the on-line cultural course
- Police check (updated yearly)
Stage 2: Assignment Application
Once you have completed the online Registration process or are a registered ABV volunteer you may apply for an ABV assignment.
Step 1: Review the Upcoming Assignments to see if there are projects of interest. Note the assignment code.
Step 2: Read the Volunteer Considerations document to understand the commitment required as a volunteer, particularly under the AVID Program.
Step 4: Click to complete the Assignment Application form (opens in a new window).
Based on your application, ABV will contact you to let you know whether you have successfully made it to the next stage of the recruitment process.
